Broken Yet Healing

Her spirit is broken. She keeps obsessing uncontrollably, fixating on the negative, the worst that could happen. Where does this come from? All the pain and hurt she’s suffered in the past coming to the surface, making her worry that it will only get worse? What good will it do, worrying about things outside her control? She knows it does nothing and tries to distract herself with yet another “Netflix Original” until she passes out from exhaustion, waking the next morning feeling relieved she got through it.

I struggle, like a lot of people, with anxiety and become obsessed with negative thoughts. I found a bible verse that helps comfort me and I try to read through it to help me refocus. I’ve also started bible doodling while I reflect on a verse I’ve read. I find this a great way to translate what I’m reading into a visual. I don’t actually doodle in my bible but want to at some point. There are some great drawings by other doodlers on Pinterest if you want to try and are looking for inspiration. 

Philippians 4:6-9 NIV

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
